So I have to admit, I have an insane addiction to Korean dramas and I absolutely love the acting and the singing (even though I can barely understand the language).
So, for starters, my first Korean drama and first love was Coffee Prince starring Yoon Eun Hye (my fav actress) and Gong Yoo (my fav actor). The drama was so captivating and at the time it seemed so original. But the only thing that is actually original about the drama, was the fact that I was watching a drama in a different language other than Spanish or English (my native language).
(-P.S.- I am American and only speak English fluently)
Anywho, since I grew up in America with daytime dramas like All My Children, Generals Hospital, As The World Turns, Days of Our Lives, etc.....(and those all have practically the same running theme but in different places, etc, etc), well Korean dramas also have a similar running theme in them. The general thing is the two main characters are either rich or poor, warm-hearted and kind or cold and distant, they absolutely hate each other when they first meet and through various circumstances, they are brought together. Seeing how they have no way out of their situation they make a deal--something like not falling in love or when the time is right they will part and go their separate ways. Of course at the climax of the series one or both realize they are in love with each other and confide there feelings in a friend who probably wants them for themselves (are you guys following this?). And if they don't confide in anyone, they carry the burden of being in love not knowing that the other also loves them just as much. Or, worse, if they don't realize they are in love with each other, the people around them definitely will and will either try to separate them or get them together. A lot of unrealistic Cinderella type situations happen in these dramas but its okay since I personally have a fairytale imagination that just won't quit. So, basically, these dramas are my cups of tea.
Now I have seen many dramas, and I have mainly seen the romantic comedies but recently I started watching those fated gender bender ones. No, no one turns gay or anything, it's just mainly body switching. My favorite Korean actor Gong Yoo was recently in this drama called Big, and I loved it. So in this drama Gong Yoo plays this 30yr old doctor who is probably getting ready to propose or well let her know how he really feels about her but on his way he gets into a car accident with who happens to be his younger brother. Blah blah blah, long story short the lady the older brother wanted to marry(?) ends up falling in love with the younger brother who was inside of the older brothers body the whole series (confusing right) and they get into this whole mess and by the last episode everything is all happy cherry and all bright smiles as if nothing happened. It doesn't make much sense unless you watch it and even if you do watch it it still might not make any sense, its kinda confusing.
Anywho, back to my favorite drama. I want to tell what happened but I don't want to spoil anything for those of you interested in watching it eventually in life. So..........I'll just give the gist of what happened and the main characrters roles to each other as well as the supporting cast. So Gong Yoo plays Choi Han Kyul this rich playboy who isn't willing to be in a relationship with anyone since he is hopelessly in love with a child hood friend that is unfortunately in love with who might be his cousin and his cousin is in love with her. Yoon Eun Hye plays Go Eun Chan this tomboy. She teaches taekwondo to little children for free and does delivery and other various tasks to support her family. The two meet when she delivers food to his house but since she looks like a guy he briefly thinks that the delivery 'guy' was checking him out. Later on we find out that Go Eun Chan has a younger sister who has this guy that likes her and won't leave her alone (and again Eun Chan is mistaken for a guy), they have a show down(food challenge), and Eun Chan who is clearly the tougher one wins it. In the evening the next day, (in the same episode mind you) Eun Chan runs into Han Kyul and the old friend he is in love with (Han Yoo Joo played by Chae Jung Ahn) while some guy is trying to rob her. Ironically the guy doing the robbing is the same one in love with Eun Chans sister and she lets him off easy which makes it look like they are working together in the eyes of Han Kyul. By the way the guy who is chasing after Eun Chans sister is the adorable Lee Un. In between the beginning and end Han Kyul's mother and grandmother tell he needs to get married, Eun Chan's mother loses a ring that she borrowed from a friend, and most importantly we meet the man I finally fell in love with Choi Han Sung played by Lee Sung Gyun, then we are also introduced to sweeper a.k.a. Terry (Han Sung's dog).
(Lol, I guess I am spoiling it for those of you who have not seen it yet and are interested in seeing it. If you are still interested in seeing it don't read the rest of this post because I will spoil the whole series for you. But if you don't mind continue reading by all means.) =)
-P.S.- There are 17 episodes.
Anywho, in the next episode Eun Chan and Han Kyul end up meeting again because she has money issues and agreed to meet him so that he can give her a reward money. He still believes that she is a guy and hires her to be his gay lover (lol).
Anywho, skipping all of the in between detail because this post will last for days if I did that, I am just going to mention Eun Chans relationship to Han Kyul, Han Sung, Yoo Joo, Hwang Min Yeop (Lee Un), Jin Ha Rim (Kim DongWook), No Sun Ki (Kim Jae Wook), and every body else.
Okay! Action!
Eun Chan and Han Kyul:
They are the major couple in this series. Of course they start off rough because he believes she is a guy and a scum bag thief. Their relationship begins as all budding relationships. They are like friends and then like enemies the next. (Han Kyul reminds of Eun Chan of her dad a little because of the collection of records he has. Her dad had the same ones). While their relationship is growing things get more and more complicated where their feelings for each other are concerned. Han Kyul starts to think he is gay until he finds out that Eun Chan is a girl and then he is devastated of course. Things get more complicated when he accepts her and what she did but his family refuses to let them be.
Eun Chan and Han Sung:
They are like best friends. They bond at first over Sweeper a.k.a Terry, Han Sung's dog. He gradually becomes attracted to her and their friendship becomes deeper when they start confiding in each other about personal issues and she starts hanging out at his house. Han Sung reminds Eun Chan of her deceased father and looks up to him more and more until things get awkward.
Eun Chan and Yoo Joo:
.......Well technically they are fighting over a guy and technically they aren't. Yoo Joo is clearly in love with Han Sung but she loves the attention she gets from both Han Sung and Han Kyul and won't make a definite decision in their relationship. So its alluded to in the first episode that she has been leading them both on but has a more fatal attraction towards Han Sung. Unfortunately, while Yoo Joo is trying to persuade Han Sung to rekindle their love (and of course succeeds until she realizes that his heart has been swayed a little towards Eun Chan. But they are not like this from the start. When they first meet Yoo Joo is friendly towards Eun Chan when she believes her to be a guy. Bonding!!!! Things of course get awkward when she finds out that Eun Chan is a girl.
Eun Chan and Min Yeop:
Min Yeop is the first guy to find out that Eun Chan is a girl after believing her to be a guy. He is kind of dense and so adoreable. He unfortunately gets into a lot of trouble at first and Eun Chan is always there to clean it up for him. As soon as he finds out that she is a girl, he begins to be very protective of her and tries not to make any mistakes. He also tries to do her work as well. He I like a loyal puppy to her and mainly it is all out of his love for her sister Eun Sae.
Eun Chan and Ha Rim:
Ha Rim is by far one of my favorites. He is fun and out going and the most dramatic character of them all. He finds out that Eun Chan is a girl around the same time that Han Kyul does and is completely devastated.
Eun Chan and Sun Ki:
Sun Ki is the hot Japanese waffle maker. There isn't much to say about their relationship except that he's really cool.
Eun Chan and Mr. Hong:
He is a family friend who sort of owns the Coffee Shop where Eun Chan works at. He is kind of dirty and creepy but he apparently makes the best coffee and he is the first person that Eun Chan asks to keep the secret of her being a girl.
Eun Chan and Han Kyul's family:
Han Kyul's family definitely hate Eun Chan. Well sort of. THey dislike the fact that she looks like a boy, acts, like a boy, and well that her family is poor. A typical rich family wanting better for their child even if that child is in love.
Han Kyul and his father:
They don't get along because of an incident that Han Kyul refuses to forgive his father for. They really look like they hate each other and it was kinda killing me until I found out what it was.
Han Kyul and his grandmother:
She has cancer and is on the verge of dying (sorta). So she pushes Han Kyul to get a job and earn his living so that she will have a peace of mind for when she actually dies.
Han Kyul and Yoo Joo:
These two are a bit awkward. Han Kyul states that being with Yoo Joo is a "bad habit". He needs to see her just like he needs to drink water in the morning. It is clear to everyone that he loves her and he even mentions a couple of times how she is his first crush. She of course is extremely inconsiderate of his feelings for her and flaunts her rekindling relationship with his cousin in his face. Gradually, of course he gets over his feelings for her and is confused over his feelings for Eun Chan since he still believes her to be a guy for at least half of the series.
Han Sung and Yoo Joo:
Yoo Joo treats Han Sung the same as how she treats Han Kyul. She is inconsiderate of his feelings and doesn't realize how huge of a risk he is taking by taking her back. (They broke up once she became famous for her art and she dated another guy for a while). Of course Han Sung is clearly swayed by Eun Chan and she gets jealous and starts to act bratty. Which is sort of what Han Sung wants of her. He has wanted to make her jealous even before he decided to take her back.
And by the end of the series everyone is all happy happy. Eun Chan was sent away to college and came back. Yoo Joo and Han Sung made up officially. Min Yoep changed his name to Hwang Min and is officially dating Eun Sae while being a male back model. Ha Rim is in a serious relationship that his been going on for two years so far. Sun Ki is still the same but sort of more friendlier to everyone (lol). All in all everyone is all happy and stuff.

-P.S.-Lee Sun Gyun has a sexy voice and I am absolutely in love with his voice. If I could marry him it would be first to hear him talk, sing, whisper to me. His voice is just that sexy. His personality is awesome as well.
